10 Things You Didn't Know About Stephen Miller


STEPHEN MILLER WAS born on Aug. 23, 1985, and grew up in a liberal Jewish family in Santa Monica, California.









@ Miller's stance on politics changed and he turned away from his family's liberal views after reading National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre's "Guns, Crimes, and Freedom." (Miller's parents are now conservative Republicans.)









@ He attended Santa Monica High School, where he often spoke out against the administration, at times by calling a national radio show to share his views on the school’s multiculturalism.








@ Miller became involved in politics while in high school. Following 9/11, he wrote numerous columns about how he stood against his liberal high school's views on the attack.








@ He earned a bachelor's degree in political science at Duke University. During his time there, he became known as an outspoken conservative for his columns in the student newspaper. @ Miller gained the most attention when he openly defended Duke's lacrosse team for allegations of rape, appearing on “The O’'Reilly Factor” and “Nancy Grace.”









@ After college, Miller headed to Capitol Hill: He worked for then-Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), followed by then-Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.). He began working for then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) in 2009. While working as Sessions' communications director, Miller fought against the bipartisan immigration overhaul.









@ He worked for President Donald Trump as a speechwriter during the presidential campaign. His work includes Trump’s Republican National Convention acceptance address.









@Miller is one of the people behind the president's controversial travel ban; he also supports building the wall on the U.S. and Mexico border.









@ Actor and director Zach Braff wants to play Miller's character on "Saturday Night Live."
